Draft Audio

I chose to interview myself for my draft audio interview. I have it down to 45 seconds, but I might make the final longer.

The design process was difficult for me, because I knew it was meant to be comedic in nature. I researched some of the most popular and successful comedy videos on the internet, and I attempted to emulate them while only giving my voice. I also listened to recorded “live” versions of some of my favorite comedians like Kathy Griffin and Kat Williams. Secondly, I wanted my topic to be PG, so I that is what led me to choose the topic of going to the grocery store on an empty stomach.

I designed it as though it was a PSA, and warned of “signs” of going to the grocery store hungry, and signed off with a slogan letting audience members know that going to the grocery store hungry is bad, and should be avoided.

I recorded the audio from my cell phone and computer, although neither produced the best sounding results. I played around in Audition and found I was able to enhance my voice, so that allowed for a little more clarity in the final draft.

In the final, I hope to not speak as quickly, and clean it up so it sounds like a legitimate PSA (although still completely bogus).

    Hey Jasmine,

I really liked how you formatted the story. It really does sound like you are giving a PSA. It sounded very professional and had a little bit of your personality in it as well, which I really enjoyed. I also like the theme of your story, It is different and still gives a perspective on the topic of your choice too. It really gives a serious and funny feel from the story. I also like that it is informative and is chopped up into different parts of why you should not go to the grocery store when you are hungry.

Some things you could do to your story to make it flow a little bit better is the space between the tips are really cut off from each other and you can tell. Try to make it seem like it was one whole speech and not just different clips put together. Another is maybe add some background noise or song, that would add a little flavor to your story. Other then that you’re off to a great start!

Hi Jasmine, Great job on your Audio Draft Story! I think it is so unique because it has so much personality! I think the topic is really funny because everyone tends to have problems when they do that-or at least I do for sure! I like how it can be relatable to almost everyone in your audience and it is humorous but informative as well. I would maybe suggest making your final a little bit longer as you mentioned in your post. I would also suggest that you make sure when you cut off different clips that you put them back together so it doesn’t have an awkward space in the middle of your story. You sounded very clear and professional and got your point across very well. I think you did an awesome job and I can’t wait to hear your final draft! Good luck!

I really enjoyed your audio draft, it was very created and different. The topic of your audio is funny and very relatable. Having a topic that is relatable is very good because it can connect with the majority of your audience and keep them entertained. My favorite part about this draft is that you used humor. Humor is a great way to connect with almost any audience.

To make your final better you should try to make it flow better. I could tell while listening that you did a lot of editing and made the transition from sentence to sentence super fast. Try to leave a little more space between the transitions. Also, I think adding some background music could make this better. I know it will be hard to find the right music for the mood your trying to have your audio be but I’m sure you’ll be able to fine something.

Great job, and good luck with your final!
