Jessica Simpson Wins Weight Loss Battle! (Final Project)

Celebrity mom Jessica Simpson debuted her new slim figure at an appearance this weekend for retailer Macy’s. The singer signed a contract with weight-loss company Weight Watchers in August to become a spokeswoman and represent the company in their new campaign. Simpson has reportedly shed 60 pounds since she began the Weight Watchers program.

The endeavor was initially viewed as a failure when the first commercial Simpson shot for the company was released, and fans were disappointed to only see the singer from the neck up. Prior to Simpson, the company experienced huge success with singer Jennifer Hudson as their spokeswoman.

Despite the backlash from the first commercial featuring Simpson, the singer stuck with it the program and it paid off. She was spotted on set of a second commercial in November, featuring her entire body. There is no release date for the commercial, however Weight Watchers traditionally begins campaigns after New Year’s to cash in on those who have made losing weight their resolution for the year.

The singer’s weight loss has inspired expectant mother Crystal Hickman to join Weight Watchers after she gives birth next February. Hickman said her goal is to lose weight in a healthy way. “Being a healthy role model is important for my children so they can be healthy too,” said Hickman. She plans to join the program next spring and slowly add in exercise to meet her weight loss goals.

Simpson joined Weight Watchers to lose the baby weight after giving birth to daughter Maxwell in May. Maxwell is Simpson’s first child with boyfriend Eric Johnson.
